Happy Canada Day - Eh!
Hey Shiner Nation!
Happy Canada Day! Canada Day is definitely one of my favourite holidays, it has it all: fireworks, partying, patriotism, a day off work, and, most importantly, dunk tanks. I really think the world would be a much better place if there was a dunk tank on every corner. A word of advice, however: be careful when you light off fireworks, especially if you’ve had a few “beverages”. Last year a few of us Shinerama folks celebrated Canada Day in a little town... er, dwelling, called Meat Cove (seriously) and some people in the group thought it would be a great idea to light off fireworks to celebrate, despite us not having a place to secure them into the ground. Fortunately the most sober of the bunch thought that “it’s ok, I can hold them,” was not a good enough solution, so we waited until were sobered up!Canada Day’s a great time for some quick fundraisers, too. If you’ve already planned something, great! If not, what’s to stop you from going to a beach and selling freezies? Or asking people who are having celebrations to donate their recyclables? Even if you just grabbed some Shinerama shirts, some suckers, stickers, and head downtown to some events, you might end up with a few bucks!
If you end up doing any fundraising for Shinerama on Canada Day, we’d love to see it! Take some pictures, or better yet, record a few videos and post them! We’d love to see what you’re up to, and whoever submits the best video (as chosen by me) will receive a sweet prize. Is it cash? Is it something really awesome? No. It will most likely be a high-five from me, possibly a t-shirt with me giving you thumbs up on it. Definitely worth it.
Hope everyone has a great Canada Day!
