University of Manitoba - Buck-A-Suck Success!

Hello Shinerama Nation!

All the way from the University of Manitoba this is an update on our Buck-A-Suck nights.

Team U of M has been super hard at work for the last three months trying to make strategical improvements to our campaigns from prior years. In the past, we’ve only attended one bar in the same night to sell suckers. This year we have learned quickly that we capitalise best when we break into teams and arrange to have groups at two or three bars per night. At one of our recent Buck-A-Suck nights, we attended two bars and broke the all time record by raising $800! If that wasn't enough, we beat that milestone during our last Buck-A-Suck where we attended three bars and fundraised over $1,230!!

As we continue to do more events throughout the summer, Eric and I have noticed the sheer potential that someone with a sales background can bring to the team. Therefore, a new Sales Coordinator position was opened on our committee! We were very lucky to find an individual who has great sales experience and at his first Buck-A-Suck night, he fundraised $330 by himself in less than two hours. No one before that had ever raised more than $175 in a single night!

Our other volunteers have also been amazing - at the end of the night they had a single donation of over $100 for the remainder of their bucket of suckers (Bryan in the blue shirt is the highest donor for the year donating $120). Trying to get donations at the end of the night from groups or individuals for the remainder of suckers has proven to be a great strategy.

Our team has an amazing Shinerama spirit and drive - we keep on surpassing goals and enjoying the journey. Below I have attached some pictures of our Buck-A-Suck nights.
