Coming Soon: Shinerama National Awards

What up Shiner-Nation!

I hope everyone's first month and a half of first semester is going phenomenal and that you are all being good by going to class and studying for your midterms well in advance!

Chances are you’re still working on a few things Shinerama related. The big thing of course is making sure you’ve all got your funds in (so go do that if you haven’t). But we like to keep the good shine times rolling all year and one way we do that is by recognizing your awesomeness. That’s where the Shinerama awards come in!

CATEGORIES

We encourage each school to apply for AT LEAST one Shinerama award this year. The three awards are:

  • Best Overall Campaign
  • Most Improved Campaign
  • Best Secondary Fundraiser

WHY

It doesn't matter if it’s the first year your school has done Shinerama in a decade, or ever. Apply. Criteria vary from award to award but the size and experience of a school is taken into account. So whatever you do; don’t overlook these awards! I've seen schools not end up applying and everyone is wondering “WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?” The awards are a prime-time way to share what made your campaign successful and spread your knowledge and enthusiasm throughout the shine community. We've heard so many amazing and unique ideas at Nationals and various Regionals over the years that turned out to be extremely successful and make a tonne of money for our cause. So you owe it to yourselves to show the nation what you pulled off and how you did it!

Simply put: It’s worth it for everyone - you get to share your success, we get to learn from it, and we all get to feel awesome knowing we've made a difference. As a bonus, applying for these awards is a great excuse to get together with your Shinerama coordinator, VP, or Orientation/Frosh Week organizer to go over the entire campaign and make transition notes for next year. You've already learned so much and been a part of this incredible journey, so why not make next year’s student leaders at your school have a little easier time starting out. When we leave a strong foundation for the following year’s campaign, it means we can raise even more money next year!

HOW

We’ll be sending out the official application and more details shortly to all Campaign leaders. If you win one of the categories, your school will receive an award, be featured in a national Cystic Fibrosis Canada publication, and be recognized at the 2013 National Shinerama Leadership Conference (only the best weekend ever).

We want to hear from you! If you have any questions about these awards or anything else about closing out your campaign, shoot your Campaign Advisor a message. We’re always available and happy to help.

Shine love to you all.
Live. Love. A$AP.
