This Shinerama Memory comes to us from Elyse Thibeault of Mount Allison University.
My friend Sydney and I were site leaders on Shine Day last September, and I think this story proves the devotion Mount Allison University students have towards Shinerama!
Syd and I were running and jumping down the side of a street in Moncton with our
Shinerama posters, cheering our heads off, being careful of the constant flow of traffic beside us. All of a sudden, from behind me I heard the money box Syd was holding crash to the ground and all of the change spilling onto the sidewalk and into the street. When I turned around I saw Syd crawling on the side walk, ignoring her bloody hands and knees, trying to pick up the fallen money before it got swept up in the wind. I don't know how, but she was able to scrape her knuckles, the palms of her hands, her elbow, and cut her knew (HOW?) all at the same time.
Unfortunately my back was facing her when she tripped and fell, but every day I wish that I could have been sitting in one of those cars, just watching the whole thing happen; it must have been hilarious! I was laughing so hard I could hardly help her up, I can't imagine if I had witnessed it! I wish I could explain the look on Syd's face when I first saw her; it was a mixture of confusion and fear yet so pitiful and hilarious at the same time. However, I can provide you with pictures of the aftermath:

Once we got back to our site we mischievously tried to prank the others that she got hit by a car (terrible of us, I know..) but eventually admitted it was yet another accident instigated by her clumsiness! We got our hands on a first aid kit, cleaned up and got right back out there to raise some more money!
Overall it was a great day, and one neither of us will forget! Sydney literally has the battle scars while I have the wonderful memories :) haha!
I can't wait to do it all over again this fall!
